The Electricity Supply Pension Scheme (ESPS)
The NGE Group is part of the Electricity Supply Pension Scheme (ESPS), also known as ‘the Scheme’, an industry-wide pension scheme in which the Participating Employers are companies formed upon the privatisation of the electricity industry in 1990 or their successors. The Scheme is established under an irrevocable trust, and its provisions are set out in the Clauses and Rules contained in the Scheme document.
The ESPS has various separate actuarially independent sections (known as ‘Groups’) in respect of each of the companies participating in the Scheme as Principal Employers, and each Group has its own assets to fund the benefits of its members. Information relating to the ESPS as a whole can be found in the Scheme Annual Report and Financial Statements, which is available on the ESPS website under ‘Useful documentation’.
